Ports of the World

We first set sail over 200 years ago...

In 1792, ACE's predecessor company, the Insurance Company of North America insured the proud ship "America" as she navigated the wintry seas from Philadelphia to Londonderry. That event launched us on our voyage to deliver responsive and innovative marine insurance and loss control services to our customers worldwide.

This special edition of Ports of the World — our fifteenth in a series that began right after World War II— is designed, as always, to aid shippers and traders doing business around the world. Ports of the World summarizes current port conditions and provides information to prepare for the efficient transportation of goods and minimize cargo damage. Even with the increased use of sophisticated testing and specialized equipment to handle goods in transit, cargo is still exposed to substantial hazards. Successful shippers are those who combine the understanding of state-of-the-art innovations with knowledge of ever-changing shipping methods and port infrastructures.

After two hundred years of marine underwriting and loss control, we're still on course with a company built to serve your special needs for now and into the future.
